¿Recuerdan esa propaganda de Pau Gasol para UNICEF? (ver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLNigoSAq4U) Fue una de las cosas que más tenía en mente cuando vine, resulta que es totalmente cierto!! En las zonas rurales del país, existe lo que llaman el espíritu de asimilación y el espíritu de protección.

El espíritu de asimilación consiste en que si tienes un hijo enfermo, al cambiarle el nombre por algo que la enfermedad no pueda encontrarle, se curará. Por eso a veces encuentras niños que tienen nombres de objetos o cosas.

Por otra parte está el espíritu de protección, donde el nombre se cambia al de algún antepasado o conocido que haya sido corpulento y fuerte, de esa manera el espíritu debe luchar contra alguien que tiene mucha más fuerza que el niño, aumentando las posibilidades de sanar.
